'Tis the season

Looking for a last minute gift idea?
Consider a charity donation in someone"s name.
And which would Mercy recommend, you ask?
Why, Boxer Rescue Ontario, of course.
Contributions are greatly appreciated.
It makes a difference.  Just ask Mercy.
Or her foster brother and fellow BRO dog, Colby.
For the friend or family member who has everything...
Give the gift of a charity donation.
Keep Boxer Rescue Ontario at the ready for helping  needy boxers.
Think it over.
Thanks!

Ring-ting-tingling too

December is here and before you know it Santa will mount his sleigh.  Of course, Mercy is a member of the welcoming committee.    The cuteness of this wee elf remains obvious despite being made to hold steady with such a ridiculous red hat. (People have some nerve!?)
Thanks to Alisa at ali-oop photography for capturing a silly moment.
Giddy yap, giddy yap, giddy yap,
Let's go, Let's look at the show!

Thanks be to dog

Well, another Thanksgiving Day has come and gone.  Let us give thanks to little Mercy-bear, the happy boxer who finds joy in every minute of each day that goes by.  For example:
Amazing feast.
Good company.
Friendly fueding.
The snuggle festival.
She is a wonderful reminder of the phrase, take time to smell the roses.
What a light, what a life, what a dog.
Her foster family gives many thank yous for Mercy!

Every morning, every evening

Ain't we got fun?  One thing is certain, Mercy has been busy.
And busy having fun.   At the end of October, Mercy and her pal
Reggie headed to Ajax for a jazzy fundraiser hosted by
The trip was made in order to show support for one of our favorite charities.  All donations collected
at the event were donated directly to Rehab for Rescues
Then at the start of November, Mercy accompanied top friend
and former foster mummy, Jennifer, in making an important t.v. appearance on
The ladies (canine & guardian) were there to promote
Her cuteness seems to keep a schedule not unlike that of a busy bumblebee.
In the meantime, in between time
Don't we have fun?
Let us see if we can't keep up.
Stay tuned!

Welcome Great Pumpkin

No matter whether the gift given by the Great Pumpkin is in the pumpkin itself, Mercy gives thanks.

According to Linus, the Great Pumpkin rises out of the pumpkin patch he deems most "sincere." He then flies through the air delivering toys to all the good little children in the world. Linus believes that the Great Pumpkin is very sensitive and easily offended and will bypass anyone who denies or doubts his existence. In writing to the Great Pumpkin, while trying to convince him that one's pumpkin patch is sincere, one must not ask for anything specific, but rather wait and accept whatever he brings.

Until next year.
So long, old friend.

What's Up Doc?

Recently, Mercy paid a pop in visit to her personal physician.  An opportunity to ask, What's up, Doc? as well as to show off all of the progress she has made over time.  The following notes are a summary about Mercy's health as described by her Veterinarian:
All of Mercy's joints were affected by the disease ** which caused growth deformaties and swellings.  At first Mercy's joints were painful (Sept. 2010)
but the bones have remodelled in the last year and she has good function with little pain.
...Recommend continued physical rehabilitation for good function and muscle tone as Mercy has responded extremely well.
That means continued time in the pool for our Mercy-bear.
Onward with the swim time, sweet alligator!
Good, good girl!!

**Hypertrophic Osteodystrophy (HOD) was one of the diagnosis put forward upon initial and multiple Vet. specialists appointments.

And, action!

The question of Mercy's mobility comes up quite a little bit.  Can she walk?  Look how bow-legged she is?!  Poor thing.  Is that how she walks naturally?
Not only does little Ms. Mercy-bear walk, she does many things.  She runs, she dances, she leaps, climbs and shakes it.  Here are just one minute and fourteen seconds of our girl in action:

Today is the day

On September 20th of 2010, Mercy landed at her permanent foster home.
A wee boxer estimated to be in the neighbourhood of one year old.
Long since exceeding all expectations as far as health and happiness
are concerned, a promotion is in order.  Yes, yes?
Please see below, Mercy-bear, the two year old.
Happy Birthday, Mercy!
May there be many more ahead for celebration.
XXOO!!

The breeze, the trees, the honeybees

Let not Mercy's charitable work go unnoticed.  She's part of it.
Most recently, she has donated her time as canine representation at
Showing the campers some of the things that go on at

First things first, the meet & greet and the Mercy dance.
A little ball work with Tania and a camper assistant.

Showing off her mad swimming skills along with her pal, Reggie.
Many laps for the many kids.  She can do it.
Kindness is the greatest wisdom.
Mercy is one smart cookie, okay.

Swim Class

Safety first!  That is a fact.
Mercy keeps on with her swimming lessons at Canine Wellness Centre
Recreational Swim sessions at least once each week.
Still, she doesn't love it.  She puts up with it.
It's so very beneficial to the little alligator's well-being.
Stay tuned for more pool updates a la Mercy...

Rocket or Rock It

No matter how you say it, Mercy is loving the Summer and the sunshine.
When an invitation for an impromptu racing contest was put forward by her pal
Brook-Brook, the Brookie Monster...  Mercy did not need to be asked twice.
Both girls unapologetically break all speed limits.
And there's nothing quite like lounging upon a warmed wooden deck.
Soaking it all in.
Keep on, sunny days!

Summertime

That's right, folks.  Summer has arrived at long last.
It's time to get to it, make plans, holiday.
Mercy's got a few ideas.
Waddle.
Race.
Run.
Fun!
There's no time to waste.
Do it.

It's the climb

Stairs.
This is Mercy's most recent area of interest.
The adventuring began outside.
Continued with the staircase indoors.
By now, she is such an expert that she travels with a friend alongside.

Ain't about how fast I get there
Ain't about what's waiting on the other side
It's the climb, yeah!

Giving back

It's time for the 8th Annual K9 Rescue Me Walk-a-thon at Woofstock.   Mercy will be joining her foster sister, Ellie, at this great event.  The girls will be walking to help raise funds for canine rescue.
To make a pledge toward their efforts, please visit our Giving Page.  Each dollar raised means a second chance for other needy dogs just like Ellie and Mercy.
All dogs are good dogs.
